Lying and the Heart of Truth

March 26, 2025

Hey Clawson family!

Song:

Scripture:

Proverbs 12:22 (NLT)

“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.”

Devotional:

Lying is often a defense mechanism—something we do out of fear, shame, or pride. But every lie, no matter how small, builds a wall between us and God. He is the God of truth, and when we lie, we’re aligning ourselves with the enemy, the “father of lies.” Stewarding our mouths means living in truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s about integrity, honesty, and trust—foundations of a life that honors God.

Journal Questions:

• Why do you think lying sometimes feels easier than telling the truth?

• What area of your life needs more honesty?

• Is there someone you need to confess a lie to?

Challenge:

Be brutally honest with yourself and others today. If you catch yourself saying something untrue or exaggerated, correct it immediately.

Prayer:

Father, help me to be a person of truth. Where I’ve lied, forgive me. Where I’m tempted to deceive, strengthen me. I want my words to be trustworthy because You are trustworthy. Amen.
