Remembering God’s Faithfulness
December 30, 2024
Hey Clawson family!
Song:
Scripture:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
(Lamentations 3:22-23)
Devotional:
Life is a journey filled with mountains and valleys. In moments of triumph, it is easy to see God’s hand at work, but in seasons of difficulty, we can lose sight of His goodness. Remembering God’s faithfulness is a powerful spiritual practice that re-centers us on the truth of who He is and what He has done.
The Bible is filled with stories of God’s faithfulness to His people. Think of the Israelites, who walked through the Red Sea on dry ground, yet quickly forgot God’s provision when they faced hunger in the wilderness. God’s response was not anger but steadfast love and provision, sending manna from heaven. Similarly, in our lives, there are countless moments when God has come through for us, even when we doubted Him.
Why Remembering Matters
When we intentionally recall God’s faithfulness, it strengthens our faith for the present and future. The enemy often tries to sow seeds of fear and doubt, whispering, “Will God really show up this time?” By remembering how He has been faithful in the past, we remind ourselves that His character does not change. The same God who delivered you before will deliver you again.
As you move forward today, take time to remember God’s faithfulness. Trust that the God who has been faithful will continue to guide and sustain you. His mercies are new every morning, and His love never fails.
Journal:
In your journal, take time to reflect on the ways God has shown His faithfulness throughout the past year. Recall specific moments of provision, protection, or answered prayers. Even in challenges, His presence was constant. As you reflect, write down at least three instances where you saw God’s hand at work. Offer a prayer of thanksgiving, praising Him for His steadfast love and mercy.
Training:
Practical Ways to Remember God’s Faithfulness
1. Keep a Journal: Write down moments when God answers prayers or provides in unexpected ways. On challenging days, revisit these pages to be reminded of His goodness.
2. Memorize Scripture: Verses like Lamentations 3:22–23 or Psalm 100:5 anchor us in the truth of His enduring love.
3. Share Testimonies: Talking about God’s work in your life encourages others and reinforces your own trust in Him.
4. Celebrate Milestones: Create traditions to mark significant moments of God’s provision, like anniversaries of answered prayers or breakthroughs.
Lord, thank You for Your unchanging faithfulness. In moments when I feel weary or doubtful, help me to recall the ways You have shown Your love and care. Teach me to trust You with my future, knowing that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Strengthen my faith and give me a heart that remembers and rejoices in Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
